Emily Lynn Harrison has arrived! She joined us on December 2 at 12:27 pm. In the passing of one day, our lives have forever been changed. For the better.
On Thursday night, December 1, on my way to bed I suspected my water broke. We got to Abbott Northwestern around midnight and it was confirmed, my water broke and we weren't leaving the hospital without a baby! Around 3 am, the contractions started becoming pretty painful and by 6 am I received an epidural to relieve the extraordinary pain that I was now experiencing very regularly. Once the epidural took effect, everything was great and I was able to get some rest before the big event and get excited about meeting our baby! At about 11:30 am on Friday, Dec. 2 I began pushing. The delivery was rather quick and easy (from what the nurse and doctor said...don't know that I would call it easy, but they're the experts!). By 12:27 pm, Emily Lynn Harrison was born...there was now this new, prefect person in our lives. Baby Emily was checked out and given a clean bill of health. We couldn't be happier. Below are some pictures from hospital visitors!

My going home outfit! |
After all the excitement in the hospital, we were ready to come home! Since we've been home we've had Aunt Karen stay with us for a couple of days to help and visit. Unfortunately, Emily had some jaundice and was confined to the blue light bed to help out with that for a day and a half...the entire time Karen was here. We still snuck in some cuddle time though!

Since we've been home, Emily has made lots of trips out and about! Thanks to this mild December! We've been to the doctor multiple times for weight and jaundice checks. All is going well. Jaundice is cleared up and weight is soaring! Emily is in the 50th percentile for weight and the 80th percentile for length! We figure she may be tall with her parents - especially her daddy!
Her first shopping trip was to Target at one week old and since then she's been to Southdale twice to shop for daddy's birthday gifts. We have also made a trip to visit dad at work and even went out to lunch with him! We're a couple of ladies about town living the leisurely life! Emily's least favorite trip was to the DMV. We had to wait a while, as you always do at the DMV, and I was kind hoping that she would start screaming as a symbol of what everyone at the DMV wants to do when waiting : ). Emily proved to be a patient little girl though and waited quietly - probably for the best! We have also taken a trip to great grandma and grandpa Hetland's house and to great aunt Tracey's house
Our days and nights are still not completely straightened out, but each night seems better than the one before, or perhaps we're just getting more used to the night hours! Whatever the case, we are loving spending time with our new little girl! Below are some highlights from the first 2 weeks!

All in all it's been a great 2 weeks filled with lots of activities! The next couple of weeks will again be full of activities and meeting new people and Emily can't wait! It's been a while since our last blog, but we plan on being more regular as we get set in our routine at home. Thanks to everyone for your overwhelming show of support and love. I find myself thinking how lucky Emily is to have such a great group of people surrounding her, we truly couldn't ask for more and we send our love back.
More to come!
