First mother's day and other fun stuff!

The last week has been fun, busy and a little chaotic! I'll start with last Friday at the Battle Creek 5K family fun run. I volunteered to help out and it was so fun. The kids had fun, their families had fun, and the staff and our families had a great time as well. Patrick even brought Emily so that the kids could see her again and that I could spend some time with her before her bedtime. The kids absolutely adored her. In fact, I would go so far as to say that she was the star of the fun run!

My sister was in town last weekend and on Saturday we cohosted a baby shower for my cousin Michelle. Everything with the shower worked out and it appeared as everyone had a great time. We're so excited to meet our cousin's new baby in July!
Fun favors!

Mini foods from all around the world for the "It's a Small World" theme!

Sunday was my first Mother's Day. Patrick and Emily let me sleep in and then surprised me with some gifts. We then went to the Harrisons for brunch followed by the Mulfort's for dinner. We weren't only celebrating Mother's Day at the Mulfort's; my brother Pat was graduating from the University the next day so we took the opportunity to celebrate that occasion as well.

Love her so much!!

On Monday I decided to treat myself to my own Mother's Day gift and take the entire day off. I started the day by bringing Emily to day care.  I then went to Home Depot to pick up some flowers to plant. After the flowers were planted I cut the grass, did laundry and got caught up my grading. 10:30 came and Patrick came home to go to Pat's graduation lunch with me. Patrick, myself, my mom, Karen and Pat enjoyed a lovely lunch at Annie's Parlor on the U of MN campus. We then headed to Mariucci Arena to attend his graduation. It was a nice ceremony and surprisingly short, just over an hour! It was followed by a reception at TCF Bank Stadium. Around 3:30 we had to leave to head out for Emily's first conference. Her conference went well, we'll see what her teachers say at her conferences in 13 years!  It was weird to be on the other side of the table though : )
Gopher pride!!
Congrats Pat!!

So proud of my little brother

This weekend was fairly low key.  On Saturday morning we went to Best Buy and purchased the new Canon Rebel.  I love the new camera!  Next time I see you don't be surprised to see me shooting away, sorry in advance : )  We then went to Patrick's boss's house for a summer kickoff party.  We had a good time and since we were with the early crowd, babies were welcome.  Emily enjoyed herself as well.
I like this swing!

We also have a quick update on Emily's foods. She has tried peas, avocado, squash and apples. Avocado is by far her favorite followed by peas, apples and in last place, squash.  We're looking forward to a quiet Memorial Day weekend and are counting down to the end of another school year - 3 weeks!

As always, more to come!

It's been a busy time for the Harrisons. Patrick was in Spain for a week recently so Emily and I got to have a little girl time. Here's a rundown of how the week went. We got Patrick to the airport on Saturday around noon. We then made a quick stop at the baby store for some essentials and continued on to visit grandma Val and GG. It was a nice afternoon and Emily was so happy to see them. Then grandma B came by to spend some time with us that evening.
Napping with daddy before his flight to Spain!

Holding my own bottle...I'm such a big girl!

On Sunday we celebrated uncle Greg's birthday. The food and cake were good and again Emily had a great time visiting her family. When we got home it was time to begin getting ready for the next day and the long week ahead. Emily's been doing pretty good sleeping through the night but those first two nights dad was gone she decided to wake up twice! It was a little rough to wake up at 4:30 Monday morning. Monday was a normal work and school day for Emily and I. I was glad to see Emily by the end of it but a little worried about how she would handle the upcoming severe weather. Luckily we didn't get much severe weather - just heavy rain, no big storms.

Happy birthday Uncle Greg!

The week seemed to go by quickly. Emily and I enjoyed walks outside on the nice days and hanging out together inside on the rainy days. Overall it was a pretty normal week but we missed dad a lot; his week was much more interesting! We received some great news this week however. Our friends Lucy and Justin are getting married this summer and Patrick's friend Jerod and his wife are expecting a baby. We also got the news that my sister and Marcus are expecting a baby! We're so excited for them and looking forward to Emily having a cousin to play with and our time as auntie and uncle.
I'm 5 months old!!

That's all for now but as always...
More to come!
