Baking!

Emily heard from a classmate that they were doing some baking on their own so she was determined to bake a cake on her own. We started with a box mix and homemade chocolate buttercream frosting. She completed the task she set out to complete and the cake turned out absolutely delicious! She shared some of her cake with some family and a couple of neighborhood friends and received great feedback from everyone. She is now on a mission to do more baking :)

Using Emily as my inspiration I decided to try making some homemade donuts with help from the girls mixing, glazing, and decorating. They turned out pretty tasty and I even bought a donut pan to try some more recipes because maintaining that donut shape without the pan to help is not super easy!

Outdoor fun

We're trying to keep busy with our free weekends and we've been lucky to have a mild winter so far which has allowed us to be outside in relative comfort.

Here's some of our latest sledding adventures:

Snow tubing with the Nolbys was also a fun adventure for the second year in a row!

We also ventured out to Theo Wirth park to take in the winter scenery and look for Zug Zug!

2020: That's a wrap!

See ya and good riddance, 2020. You were a doozy of a year and I can't say we're sad to see you go. We are looking toward 2021, not as a magic fix for the mess that was this past year but for the hope of a new beginning and better times ahead.

All the Lights

This year with the pandemic hindering our ability to do much out of the house, we (and by we, I mean I) decided it would be fun to spend time driving all over the twin cities to view some of the larger holiday light displays. Some of the displays were created by organizations for profit but some were just people who have a lot of time, skill, and money that they were able to devote to dressing up their house for the season.

Even though I was definitely the driving force behind our twin cities lights tour, I think we all enjoyed traveling around to check out the spectacle of lights.

Enjoy some of the millions of lights we took in this year!

I even WON tickets to Sam's Christmas Village in Somerset, WI on the radio!
