Girls night out

Emily and I enjoyed a night out with dinner and a show. Freckleface Strawberry, the musical, was at Edina High School so Emily and I made a night out of it. The show was so much better than I anticipated and Emily loved it!

Weekend fun

We had fun playing with our Chicago family when they were here to visit early in April. We enjoyed time at a new park and lunch with malts!

The party

We had Aubrey's first birthday party the Saturday after she turned one. It was a cool, sunny day and we had a great time celebrating our little girl! We are so lucky to have most of our family and friends in the area that were able to come to Aubrey's party. We were even lucky enough to have Karen and her boys join us for the party and the weekend!

Family

We had some family photos taken on a cool spring morning just after Aubrey's first birthday. Can't wait to get some framed and displayed at home! Below is a sampling of the photos :)

The big one!

The day has arrived: Aubrey is one year old. Time really has flown over the past year. I can see how much Aubrey and Emily have grown over the past year and it amazes me. Aubrey's personality is really starting to shine through lately. She is a goofy girl who has a funny little laugh that seems like she's in on some inside joke.

We had a great day celebrating our little lady today. The girls went to school but I picked them up early for an ice cream trip. It was the only thing that we thought we knew Aubrey would like!

When we got home, we enjoyed some play time before our little family festivities.

After dinner, Aubrey opened gifts. Emily helped by getting the paper tearing started but Aubrey did great! She tore away at the paper and successfully opened her first finger paints and a Minnie Mouse push toy.

We spent some time testing out the new finger paints after opening gifts. I can't say that Aubrey loved her first finger painting experience but I'm sure she'll learn to love it, especially if Emily has anything to do with it.

Good thing the paint is non toxic!

We wrapped up the evening with cupcakes for everyone. It was a wonderful day and I am lucky to have such a good natured, easy going, curious, loving daughter. I look forward to everything the future holds for Aubrey without wishing it here to quickly.
