Quarantine week 5

We just wrapped up week 5 of the quarantine. This was a hard week for me because we had a spring snowfall and much lower temperatures that kept us inside more than usual. We made it through though and had some nice weather over the weekend to help with the cabin fever. We’re entering week 6 and are healthy and safe while anxiously awaiting a return to our routine!

Easter

Here we are, still under stay at home orders on Easter weekend. Saturday was gorgeous out so we made good use of outdoor time because a spring snow dump was predicted to hit us on Easter Sunday. And the meteorologists were right! It came fast, furious, and lasted all day. In the end we got 5-6 inches of new snow. Luckily it’s April so it didn’t stick around for more than a couple of days.

Patrick was determined to recreate his family’s Easter brunch and he delivered. We had ham, deviled eggs, cheesy potatoes, jello “salad”, and crescent rolls. It was delicious! The Easter bunny also dropped off some eggs in the back yard and baskets full of goodies. We enjoyed a family trivia game and wrapped up the evening watching Despicable Me.

Even without being with our extended family we made the best of the day and I think the girls enjoyed our Easter at home.

Aubrey is FIVE

Pandemic or no pandemic, Aubrey turned FIVE! Because we’re still under the stay at home order we had to change our celebration plans. We didn’t have a weekend full of parties like we originally planned, but we did spend the day focused on Aubrey and doing things we thought she would enjoy. We lucked out and the weather was gorgeous so we started the day with breakfast in bed (monkey bread is all she wanted!), followed by lots of play time indoor and out, gift opening, a bike ride with a stop at DQ, a dinner of Aubrey’s choice (chocolate waffles), and brownies to mark the occasion. All in all I think we did a pretty good job of celebrating the funny, cute, friendly, sassy, determined, kind girl that is Aubrey. We love you sweetie 🤗

Dream Big Little Girl!

ZOOM

Zoom. It’s a video conferencing platform that has taken off in these times of working from home. We are conducting business through zoom, but are also using it to have a little fun. Our family is having zoom game nights including trivia and charades. We are also having zoom happy hours to stay connected to friends. I can’t image how isolating this would have been like before three times of video conferencing. We will continue to connect with our friends and family this way until we can be together in person.
